Debut en Pamplona con Coldplay

Concierto en el Hotel Tres Reyes

El 10 de junio de 2023 tuve la ocasión de interpretar los grandes éxitos de Coldplay en el Hotel Tres Reyes de Pamplona, un concierto Candlelight organizado por Fever.

Después de mi primera experiencia con el repertorio en una iglesia, temía que la acústica volviera a dificultar mi trabajo, pero no fue así. Aunque la sala era de piedra y rectangular, las acolchadas sillas del público y las cortinas que cubrían todas las ventanas absorbieron muy bien el sonido, aun siendo el piano un brillante Yamaha C7.

La primera sesión, aunque se ausentaran unas veinte personas, tenía las entradas agotadas. El público estaba sentado alrededor del piano, incluso detrás y a la izquierda, lo cual era nuevo para mí. Como era un concierto a la luz de las velas, el piano estaba a oscuras y tuve que poner luces enganchadas al teclado para ver dónde ponía las manos. De lo que no me había dado cuenta es que, tal y como me las había colocado, me estorbaban para levantar la mano y pasar las páginas y más de una vez me tropecé con ellas.

Para la segunda sesión habría corregido este error y me sentí más a gusto tocando, aunque me notaba ya algo cansado. El baño relajante que pude darme en el hotel me sentó de lujo, y también me encontraba más cómodo con el público, que esta vez era menor, porque sentía que interactuaba mejor así.

Mi próximo concierto en el Hotel Tres Reyes será el mes siguiente, esta vez con el repertorio de Ludovico Einaudi. Aquí os dejo unas fotos de la prueba acústica del concierto de Coldplay.

Concert at the Hotel Tres Reyes

On 10 June 2023 I had the opportunity to perform Coldplay’s greatest hits at the Hotel Tres Reyes in Pamplona, a Candlelight concert organised by Fever.

After my first experience with the repertoire in a church, I was afraid that the acoustics would again hinder my work, but this was not the case. Although the hall was stone and rectangular, the cushioned audience chairs and the curtains covering all the windows absorbed the sound very well, even though the piano was a shiny Yamaha C7.

The first session, although some twenty people were absent, was sold out. The audience was seated around the piano, even behind and to the left, which was new to me. As it was a candlelit concert, the piano was dark and I had to put lights hooked to the keyboard to see where I put my hands. What I hadn’t realised was that, as I had placed them, they got in the way of me raising my hand to turn the pages and more than once I tripped over them.

By the second session I would have corrected this mistake and felt more at ease playing, although I was already feeling a little tired. The relaxing bath I had in the hotel felt great, and I also felt more comfortable with the audience, which was smaller this time, because I felt I interacted better that way.

My next concert at the Hotel Tres Reyes will be the following month, this time with the repertoire of Ludovico Einaudi.
