Un final emocionante
El 18 de noviembre tuvo lugar la ceremonia de clausura del Festival Internacional de Cine Documental y Cortometraje de Bilbao, una de las celebraciones más importantes en su campo a nivel mundial.
La gala se hizo en el Teatro Arriaga a las 19:30. Yo participé en el evento acompañando al Coro Infantil de la Coral de Bilbao en su intervención sorpresa al final del evento (sin duda, la parte más emocionante del acto).
La experiencia fue… ¿Curiosa? Es la primera vez que empiezo tocando a oscuras, en camiseta, helado por un ventilador e intoxicado por una máquina de humo. Además, como era una sorpresa, el coro y yo empezábamos la actuación ocultos desde el fondo del escenario. Luego el coro se desplazaba hacia adelante, pero claro, el piano no tiene pies… Así que acabé tocando a unos tres o cuatro metros del coro, sin poder ver al maestro (José Luis Ormazabal) y casi sin escucharles.
Dice mucho del coro y del director (y del pianista) que hayamos ido bien empastados en todo momento. El resultado visual y sonoro fue espectacular, un gran final para el 64º Festival Zinebi.
An exciting ending
The closing ceremony of the Bilbao International Documentary and Short Film Festival, one of the most important celebrations in its field worldwide, took place on 18 November.
The gala took place at the Arriaga Theatre at 19:30. I participated in the event accompanying the Children’s Choir of the Bilbao Choir in their surprise intervention at the end of the event (undoubtedly the most exciting part of the event).
The experience was… Curious? It’s the first time I’ve started playing in the dark, in a T-shirt, frozen by a fan and intoxicated by a smoke machine. Also, as it was a surprise, the choir and I started the performance hidden from the back of the stage. Then the choir would move forward, but of course, the piano has no feet…. So I ended up playing about three or four metres from the choir, without being able to see the maestro (José Luis Ormazabal) and almost without hearing them.
It says a lot about the choir and the conductor (and the pianist) that we were well matched at all times. The visual and sound result was spectacular, a great end to the 64th Zinebi Festival.
